Who we are
TesterDonate (the “Platform”, operated by testerdigital) provides fundraising technology to political campaigns, electoral district associations, and other organisations (each, a “Campaign”). When you make a donation, the Campaign you donate to is the organisation responsible for your information (the data controller); TesterDonate processes that information on the Campaign’s behalf.
Information we collect
When you donate or create an account we collect: your name, email, mailing address, phone (optional), and — where required by elections law — your employer, occupation, and a citizenship/eligibility attestation. We record the amount, date, and (for recurring gifts) the schedule of your contributions. For fraud prevention and security we store a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser user-agent. We do not collect or store full card numbers — card details are entered directly into our payment processor (Stripe) and never touch our servers.
How we use your information
To process your donation and issue receipts; to comply with elections and tax law (including contribution reporting and limits); to prevent fraud and abuse; to provide your donation history and receipts in your account; and, where you have opted in, to let the Campaign contact you. We do not sell your personal information.
Payment processing
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your card information is handled by Stripe under its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance. TesterDonate receives only a payment token and the last four digits / card brand for display.
Where your data lives
Your donation and account records are stored on infrastructure located in Canada. Payment card details never touch our servers — they are handled by our payment processor as described above.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under PIPEDA in Canada, the GDPR in the EU/UK, or the CCPA in California) you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact the Campaign you donated to, or contact us at dean@testerdigital.ca and we will route your request appropriately. Note that elections and tax law may require us to retain certain contribution records even after a deletion request.
Data retention
We retain contribution records for the period required by applicable elections and tax law, then delete or anonymise them. Account information is retained while your account is active.
Security
We use encryption in transit, role-based access controls, row-level database security, and mandatory two-factor authentication for staff. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
